This, I believe, is absolutely the best way to play your Ipod or MP3 player through your factory radio. I have tried using a wireless FM transmitter and a cassette adapter and neither one of those worked well. With the wireless FM transmitter, it was difficult to find an open station to operate it static free while the cassette adapter deteriorated the sound quality so much it seems that everything is muffled. This wired FM Modulator works great. No loss of sound quality while maintaining static free operation. The downside of this kit is the relatively difficult installation process. If you have had experience of replacing a radio in your car, then this should be a piece of cake otherwise it may be best to have it installed by a pro. Over the years I have installed about a dozen or so car radios and this one still took me about 2 hours to install as I literally have to remove the factory radio to access the antenna connector. Finding a switched battery positive lead and ground is probably the next difficult part. Once those are accessed, the rest is fairly easy. The good thing is, after you get it working, its all worth it as this thing works flawlessly. One more thing, this unit uses the old style antenna connectors. Since most new cars now use a locking proprietary connector you will most likely need a set of antenna adapters to complete the installation.
UPDATE: After using this product for a few months, I noticed a slight and constant hum when the volume is turned down. This is only noticeable when the vehicle is idling or moving at a very low speed. Once you get going, most of the other noises in the car drowns out this hum. Just wanted to point this out to make sure I did not mislead any one. I would not change my rating because of this issue as it still performs to its intended purpose.

This was kind of my last option because i have tried anything from fm transmitters to the wireless transmitters as well as using a cassette. I have always been dissapointed with the sound quality and all of the static. Well this product is amazing. the sound is perfect and you can hide everything in your car. you cant even tell a difference when you look at my stereo. the only trouble i had was trying to figure out how i would wire the unit. I ended up hooking the red wire into the fuse for my windshield wiper and i ground the black wire into a screw near the fuse box. the plus about wiring the red wire into a fuse is that the new auxilary port will turn off when you turn off your car. so that was it. i then hid all the wires and plugged the modulator into my stereo unit. i did not need a antenna adapter because my stereo unit had a spot that fit. Everything looks great in my 2001 Oldsmobile Alero!!!

This is as close as you are going to get to getting the best audio signal before installing a new car receiver. Installation is easy as long as you have passed the 8th grade. Yes, there are no instructions, but if you can't figure it out then I don't know how you managed put your pants on this morning. Even with a radio signal that was partially coming in the unit blocks the signal completely out and there is total silence if your MP3 player isn't playing music.

This is exactly the product you need to hardwire your ipod. Easy to install. I borrowed the Haynes repair book for my Subaru Outback from the library which had wiring diagrams and locations of any screws to remove fascia. The switch and ipod are hidden in a bin in the console. There were absolutely no visible changes to the radio - all wires hidden except to plug in the ipod (which are concealed in the console).
Sound quality is 9-10/10. No static, but does clip if volume of ipod is maxxed.
I repeat: this is the product you need to hardwire your ipod to your car stereo!!!

This product works great. As others have mentioned, if you have no other option but to go for a modulator, this is by far the best. This new version will only "over-write" two frequencies, so you can have it on all the time. The audio quality is very good. It is very simple to install. Find the ground(black cable) and current (red cable) from you stereo, make a little incision and tie your modulator's cables to it. Get your antenna connected to the modulator and the modulator adapter to your stereo. That is all. It it definitely money well spend.
