Smart car pricing: is not rocket science

When it comes to Smart car pricing, they are near the least expensive cars to purchase. The starting price for the most expensive one is $16,000. A good used Smart car can be had for $8,000.

By checking prices across the nation, the variability in prices does not seem to vary too much on a used Smart car. This 1.0 L engine car will always get great fuel mileage with one drawback, it will never be a family car. This is a 2 seater and there is no way of changing that.

For a 2008, most are reselling from $8,000 to $15,000. There are some 2007 presently being sold in the US. They have been imported from Europe and are all Mercedes. These Smart cars are all equipped with turbo engines and have been altered to meet the US emissions standards. They are a little more expensive being in the $13,000 to $18,000 range, but that little bit of extra power is worth it for some car owners.

The safety cell that these cars are equipped with does make them safer than what most people think. As more and more Americans choose smaller cars to drive, it is becoming safer to drive not only a small car but a Smart car also.

There are hybrids on the market that get better mileage but they are at times over double the initial price of a Smart car.

This is also the path that Europe has taken many years ago as the price of fuel soared, small fuel efficient cars. This has all made Smart car pricing a reasonable choice at around $10,000 for a good used fuel efficient car.

How to best use your autoresponder for your email marketing campaigns.

Studies show a potential visitor will take seven to nine messages before s/he becomes comfortable with you and eventually contacts or preferably buys your products or services. If you are left with only one marketing tool, what would you retain? Most marketers would say autoresponders or their email list. This tells you how serious you should treat your email marketing effort AND your autoresponder tool.

What is an autoresponder? An email autoresponder allows you to follow up your potential customers at a predefined timeframe automatically through emails. You may acquire this functionality by installing a script on your webhosting or you can acquire this function through third party autoresponder service providers Is your email autoresponder working as effectively as designed? What criteria should you consider when it comes to picking an email autoResponder? What is the single most important criteria when choosing your autoresponder service?

Three criteria you should consider before you invest your hard-earned cash in this vital marketing tool. A great deliverability is the most sought-after feature of any email autoresponder. Any internet user would receive tons of SPAM mails in their mail-box each day. If you use Gmail, you should be familiar with the screen shot below. There are 2808 spam emails in my Gmail account as at the time of writing. I will never read these emails. If you use some poor autoresponder service, your emails will automatically be streamed into these SPAM folders. You may ask, “What determines which email go to “SPAM” folder?” Unless you are gmail.com, you don’t know their “way of thinking”.

But definitedly you don’t want to be the one who emails the optins to their SPAM folder. But what is the main cause for your emails not being able to reach your targetted prospects or subscribers? There are many reasons why it is the case, but by far the most important reason is this: Is your autoresponder a self hosted script OR third party autoresponder service? As mentioned, you acquire your autoresponder function either by the script you hosted on your website or you may build your list and your autoresponder through a third party service provider. The mission of a third party autoresponder service providers is to deliver your emails. Why do I not recommend a self-hosted script which you can install onto your webhost?

The reason is one word: “SPAM”. Some of your subscribers will report you as SPAM, no matter how diligent and sincere you are with your email marketing campaigns. People just forget they sign up on your list. They will report your emails as SPAMs some day down the road. It’s just a matter of “when”, not “If”. When subscribers report your emails as spams, their internet service provider (ISP) may blacklist your future emails. This blocks your emails getting into their inbox in the future. I have previously used a hosted service, which had good results initially (for about 6 months). After a few of my ex-subscribers complaint me spamming them, my emails are not as effective as before. Treat email autoresponders service companies eat and breath on deliverability.

They ensure your emails get delivered. Some autoresponder service us claiming that it delivers 99.34%, meaning it their readers get 99 emails out of 100 emails! There are some free autoresponder services out there. I urge you not to waste your time finding or even trying one. Why? I have used those services and only found myself promoting someone!|s else services. Those free services basically send out your emails with their own embedded advertising. Your readers will read their ads first before your messages. If you are not serious about your business, use free autoresponsers. Price should be the least concern, as autoresponder is your lifeblood of your viral traffic. Usually a quality autoresponder costs around $20 a month.

Good Web Design

What makes a good web design?

The first thing visitors should see is an inviting home page. That initial window must give the visitor a reason to stay and read more. Your home page is your business’s front door. It should say “come in and stay, look around, I offer something that you want!”

An inviting page includes:

  • an attractive header and a well crafted tagline that quickly identify the business or organization and its purpose
  • a carefully chosen color scheme
  • navigation “the menu” that clearly helps the visitor find what he or she is seeking
  • a visually balanced web design page and an effective presentation of information

What makes a site user-friendly?

  • logical site organization
  • a navigation system (menu) that is immediately understandable
  • inner pages are found easily with a minimum of clicks
  • links, and where they lead, are identified clearly by color and wording

Websites should be designed for their audience. Think about who is going to be using your site, and what they will need to see in order to want your service or product.

What about readability?

Most people read about 25% slower from the screen than from print. Perhaps one fifth actually read word by word; the rest scan web pages quickly. Content on website pages should have:

  • high contrast between text color and background in your web design
  • short paragraphs
  • pages not longer than 2-3 screenfuls
  • line lengths – about 12-15 words, or 65-70 characters
  • headings and other cues that lead the viewer’s eyes through the text

Colors of text and background should have high contrast for the greatest readability.

Patterned backgrounds can make reading on-screen more difficult.

The content should be well written and concise. Writing on-line has different impact than writing on hard copy.

Quantity is not better, the average person reading on a monitor screen will remember only 15% of what they see, compared to 60% from a printed page. Make every word count. Avoid long pages of paragraph after paragraph. Use bulleted lists to highlight key information. Well chosen graphics and photos add interest. Meaningful headings and sub-headings identify sections and help the reader’s eye move down the page.

How many graphics should be used in my web design?

That depends: photos and clip art should be chosen because they enhance the content, not simply for their own effect. Again, quantity does not guarantee a positive result. Graphics should be optimized so that file size of each page + images is not too big. Image rich pages lead to longer download times.

Las Vegas Trade Show Exhibiting Made Easier

Las Vegas has grown in the last few years, some of the landmark hotels have been imploded, while being replaced by mega hotels and convention centers.
According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, in 2002 more than 5 million convention and trade show delegates traveled to Las Vegas, generating $5.9 billion in non-gaming revenue. Las Vegas hosts a large percentage of the top conventions and rents more convention space than any other U.S. city. The climate is not usually a factor unlike others cities which have to contend with excessive rain, snow, etc. The city has grown to accommodate the needs of exhibit and convention attendees.

Las Vegas has grown since then, we have seen world famous hotels imploded, like the Dunes, Sands and the Stardust hotels; while being replaced by mega hotels such as the Wynn Hotel Resort, the Venetian, Luxor and the Mandalay Bay, etc. We now have more places to hold conventions. We have seen the Las Vegas Convention Center expand into a mega convention center, while the Sand Convention Center and the Mandalay Bay are not far behind. These convention halls have host such conventions and trade shows like CES, INTEROP, THE GAMING SHOW, SEMA, AAPEX TRADE SHOWS and thousands more.

One exhibit house that has catered to quite a few of these shows is ELDS, Inc, providing the convention exhibitors with custom built exhibit booths either for rental or purchase. ELDS is a full one shop exhibit house that will not only design and manufacture your next trade show display, but will also transport and set up your booth in any location in Las Vegas. See the options available for exhibiting in my previous article “trade show displays; rental vs. purchasing or leasing”. Las Vegas has done a great job of providing a great backdrop for convention goers. Let’s not forget about the gaming industry, restaurants and hotels that cater to such shows and venues.

The city had to expand to accommodate all the conventions that are coming to each of these hotels and convention halls. With the growth of more conventions and mega hotels; a new monorail system was developed. This system runs along the Las Vegas strip to most of the major hotels and convention halls. It’s a quick and easy way to avoid traffic congestion. This system can reach speeds of up to 50 mph, with seven stops. It reaches one end of the Las Vegas strip in 15 minutes or less; it’s cost-efficient and hassle-free. This cuts down on the large amount of parking that is needed. The convention attendees and weekend vacationers can now feel assured that they can escape the traffic jams that other cities experience.

The nightlife, well, what can I say, it’s something that you have to experience “what happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas”. Let your hair down and enjoy yourself.
Currently, Las Vegas has 9 million square feet of convention and meeting space, including the Las Vegas Convention Center’s recent South Hall expansion. Additional available convention space significantly increased in 2003 thanks to the opening of Mandalay Bay’s 1.5 million-square-foot conference center. The city is still growing as more and more hotels are being built, with conventions facilities attached. With over 127,000 guest rooms in hotels and in close proximity to McCarran International Airport, the Las Vegas Convention Center is among the largest convention centers in America. A Little History About Olive Oil

While olive trees were probably first cultivated some part of the eastern Mediterranean roughly around 5000 B.C., their popularity progressed westward throughout history and their ancestry has been traced back to Italy 20 million years ago.  If you picture the time when Roman’s ruled the most of the world and you’ll recall visualizing royalty adorning olive crowns; van Gogh paint and The Olive Trees, said to be the counterpart to his more famous painting Starry Night; many references in the Bible.  The typical olive tree contains an array of bendy branches connected near the bottom of the trunk.  Its leafy branches bear dainty sprigs of white blooms, and the delicious green fruit we love so much.  It is said that the tree symbolizes peace and prosperity, which would account why the delicious oils from the olives themselves have become a commodity in high demand.

Those of italian decent are commonly associated with their use of olive oil, and the freshest ingredients.  Most people won’t dare to deep fry with olive oil, mostly because of the cost, the added drizzle of the tantalizing oil as a final touch will certainly compliment most meals.  True olive oil is cold-pressed, meaning no artificial heat is applied during processing, and if subjected to high-heat cooking you are basically eliminating the antioxidants olive oil contains.  Which also means if stored in a window sill with direct sunlight the color changes and shelf-life decreases.  We enjoy showing off our fancy, and somewhat expensive, kitchen ingredients, make certain that your olive oil is in a dark, tinted bottle or store it in a cool, dry place.

Being a monounsaturated fat (a fat that studies show does not raise the LDL, or bad cholesterol) is a big plus for olive oil, and may be why the olive oil industry is now bigger than ever.  Americans are more health conscious than ever and are continually searching for ways to stay fit and young.  Any physician will tell you that crash diets and surgeries are not the path to a healthier lifestyle.  They are extremely dangerous and, they surely aren’t lasting.  The only time tested, true path to lose those extra pounds, lower the cholesterol and get more physically fit is with a change in lifestyle of diet and exercise.  Not a fad.  Not a pill.  Not a temporary fix.  We are talking about a complete overhaul of eating habits, getting away from the couch and being accountable for what we put into our bodies.  Here are some fun facts for you:  According to the Center for Disease Control and the American Heart Association, heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States; an estimated 47% of cardiac emergencies are pronounced dead before emergency service arrives; in 2009, it’s projected that heart disease will cost $304.6 billion in health care, medication and lost productivity.  Scared yet?

Olive oil alone isn’t going to drop your BMI (body mass index) to under 25, and Its not the saving grace for healthier living, but it can definitely be a great start. Instead of deep fat frying that chicken, try dipping it in egg-whites, then breadcrumbs, and lightly spray with some olive oil before baking it.  You get the crispy texture, great taste, and its a much better choice for you.  Instead of saturating your salads with ranch dressing, try using an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing.  Small changes can go a long way with your heart, your health and your life.
