Amazon Kindle – Free Up Space And Save Money

The latest Amazon Kindle e-book reader is, in my opinion at least, the perfect product. I freely confess that, as someone who counts reading among my main hobbies, I must be pretty much Amazon’s target market. Typically, I would expect to read, as an absolute minimum, one book each week – and it’s not so very unusual for me to have one novel, one non-fiction and a fair number of reference books under consideration at any one time.

I don’t think that’s so really uncommon, otherwise traditional print books wouldn’t sell so well, but it does mean that I can spend quite a bit of money on books. Putting the costs of the books to one side, my mini library of books does tend towards untidy and soon eats up a fair bit of space at home. Every now and again I sort through the pile and, putting the reference books and my other favourites aside, have a bit of a clear out. Normally the books find their way to friends, relatives or charity shops.

I recently got rid of over fifty volumes in advance of moving house. It wasn’t until I saw them, boxed up and ready to go, that I realised I was looking at a spend of somewhere between $500 and $1000 which had built up in just under a year.

Now, whilst the Amazon Kindle is a fairly pricey item in itself, the downloadable e-books from the Kindle store are usually quite a bit cheaper than the printed equivalent. After all, there are no printing and distribution costs for the publisher and no postal charges for Amazon. Even saving just a few dollars a book, which seems quite achievable, anyone who reads on a regular basis could fairly quickly recover the cost of the device and then start to save money over time.

The potential benefits aren’t just financial. The Kindle 2 has memory capacity for around 1500 e-books whereas the Kindle DX, which will started shipping on June 10 2009, will store 3500. That’s a lot of books – and a fair amount of physical storage space which will no longer be needed in your home or office.

Some users have suggested that the Kindle is a green, eco-friendly, device – based upon the fact that it will save on the usage of paper. The logic is easy to see, but obviously some thought should also be given to the materials used in production as well as the disposal of the device at the end of its useful life.

The actual benefits achieved will vary from user to user and will probably depend chiefly on how many books are bought per annum. All the same, for regular readers, it seems that the Kindle has a number of distinct advantages which should more than offset the initial cost.

While a DVD can only run at 9.8 Mbps, the video bit rate on a BD is 40.0 Mbps. It should be clear why BD is the trend of today and the near future.

Movie studios already release movies on Blu-ray and many others are beginning to follow the trend. One nice thing about Blu-ray players is that they are compatible with DVD and CD. The best thing about Blu-ray is the support of high definition (HD) picture quality. DVD can only support standard definition video because the disc simply does not have enough storage capacity. It is also nice perk of BD that you can manipulate the menu as the movie continues to play in the background. Unlike a DVD, you need not stop and start to find a scene or jump to any particular section of a movie. BD is also hard coated to make it more scratch resistant than a DVD.

HD-DVD is very similar to Blu-ray technology. However, the difference between HD-DVD and BD audio and video quality is quite measurable. HD-DVD has not been supported by most movie studios. Soon, most of the movies you want to watch will be available only on BD. Get ready.

Blu-ray, supported by major motion picture studios and PC manufacturers, will soon take a lead over DVD movies. BD is the movie format to go with today. When it will be replaced and with what, we don’t know, but until then enjoy the high audio and visual quality of Blu-ray.

Make sure you own a Blu-ray player. In the near future it will not be possible to find movies in DVD formats. As DVD players die, they will be replaced by this new, high definition technology. Blu-ray prices are very affordable. BD formats of movies can be found starting at $6-$7 to $50-$60 for sets and series. It is worth the price for the high definition quality and sleek new features. Who Said Games Controllers Were Boring?

There can’t be many people who do not know the big three video games systems currently available in the stores. Everyone compares the PS3 with the Wii and with the Xbox 360 on the basis of quality of graphics but we should also consider the benefits of the games controllers available.

Controller design is something the games machine manufacturers spend a lot of money on designing them and we usually just use them without thinking. The original Xbox was released in 2001 and it came with the controller known as the duke controller.

It turned out that Microsoft got it wrong and people found the controller was too large to use comfortably so they didn’t enjoy playing the Xbox so much. Very quickly they changed the controller for an alternative controller known as the S model which is much like the 360 controller you get today.

The current style of controller is quite the most comfortable and one which you are happy to play with. Meanwhile the controller for the Playstation in use today is not as new as it might look.

There are not that many changes from the the PS2′s having had a few internal modifications. The original PS3 controller appeared very different but it’s new control layout was soon abandoned.

The talk is that it wasn’t as simple and easy to use as the time-tested PS2 one. There is little doubt they came right in the end but they need to be sure to get it just right when they release their next games platform.

There is nothing basically wrong with the current system but a new system will mean people expect high standards when they come out with new ideas. With the current financial climate it may be we will have to wait some time but we will be looking out for something special when it arrives.

The last machine we look at is the controllers we get with the Wii games system which are a breath of fresh air. The wii bundle comes with a wiimote and this is very different and hard to compare to the other games system controllers.

The designers were thinking outside the box with the wiimote with a novel and a completely original approach to the idea of controlling games you are playing. Bring out the motion sensing controller is more revolutionary than all the other games console improvements since the earliest days of computer games.

We should be grateful for the wonderful way this technology has been developed and is being used to add to your enjoyment and there is little doubt that the next generation of gamers will consider this is the way to play. When the Wii bundles were first released hardened gamers dismissed the graphics chips used in the Wii though they didn’t realise what a great change the controllers introduced.

It will be fascinating to discover anything different in the next round of new games console releases and what their and if price is no problem these are the ones to get. It seems likely they will be who knows what new features they might offer us and they could be completely different to what we expect.

We’ve tested a variety of gaming seats and systems at our demo gaming centre, and we gave the fanatec range a thorough going through! As you’d expect from a German Company – a solid piece of gaming seat Engineering from a German organisation with links to Porsche!

Wheel Stand

The issue we have with Gaming Cockpits/Seats (eg. VisionRacer, BobEarl, Cockpit etc) is that they take up so much room, and in todays environment many families just dont have the room. The competitive pricing of the wheel stand make this a muct have product… The RennSport started life as a step up from the traditional keyboard/mouse, or joystick. In my experience, PC users were generally keyboard & mouse focussed, whilst console people used joysticks. The Wheel stand is something different – you can use whilst sitting on a couch, and have a fantastic experience. WheelStand investors usually have consoles, and this is probably due to the ease in setup and use.

One of the advantages of the RennSport Wheel Stand is that it doesn’t take up much room, and you can use your existing sofa to get something comfortable and enjoyable. Comfort comfort comfort – neat and tidy, and readily accessible pedals make this a real pleasure!

If you are short on space for a gaming seat – get the WheelStand, its a worthy investment! A real plus is that it is easy to pack away, whilst being rock solid – being made out of aluminum, this really helps.

Fanatec CockPit

The CockPit has great adjustment range, it looks impressive, and you can make some adjustments to the monitor height. Young family… get this, I.e. a range of different sizes, as the Cockopit can be adjusted for the individual. The sliding keyboard holder is a nice touch too. The gaming seat products benefit from the design pedigree of porsche!

Combine the Cockpit Gaming seat with an XBOX or PS3 steering wheel such as the G25, and you wont look back. Out of the box the Fanatec Gaming Seat Cockpit supports a 3 monitor configuration, either 3*24″ displays or a single 37″ display. Acoustically, it was a nice touch to see the inbuilt 5.1 design.1 surround sound too. You dont have a Gaming Seat unless you have a superb audio system, and this cockpit has all this.

We found the CockPit a good competitor to the VisionRacer, British vs German Engineering – so here’s a thought – buy a VisionRacer and a Fanatec Cockpit and race against each other, Aston Martin vs BMW!

Brake Maintenance Tips

Your brakes is most definitely not in sight. But it is one part of your car that you need to keep regular maintenance on. Whether you do it yourself, or hire a San Diego auto repair shop, you have to maintain it.After all, the safety of your life and maybe your family’s life could depend on it.

With that being the case, it will be relatively easy to maintain your brakes.You can do one of two things, you can take it to a brake repair shop or you can learn how to maintain it yourself.

Either way, the brake fluid level and the brake pad conditions are the two main things to look at.If you follow these two points vigilantly, you will ensure your brakes are safe.

When you go to check the brake fluid level, all you are going to have to do is check the fluid reservoir level. It is usually marked and has a ‘min’ line and a ‘max’ line.Make sure that the fluids are not below the ‘min’ line and you will not have any problems.

Also be sure that you see that the brake fluid is yellow in color and clear. If it is not, you will have to flush the brakes and replace it with new fluid.

Brake fluids are easy to maintain.The hard part of this will be the brake pads. For this, more often than not you will need a brakes repair company like my San Diego brake shop.

Usually the brake pads tell you they need to be replaced when you hear some screeching sounds when you are braking.

If so, get them checked and if need be, replaced as soon as you can. Brake pads that are worn is hard to control or stop.

With your safety and your passenger’s safety directly effected, this is a no brainer. Get it checked and if need be, get your brakes fixed.

The Best iPod Mini Player

Apple iPod

Losing something that you own is an awful experience and one that most people will fully understand of, that familiar sinking feeling in your stomach when the realisation hits that you will never again see that watch, or in my case the iPod. I really went through an emotional rollercoaster when I discovered its loss; all the anger, disappointment and sadness came upon me and then back to anger again. I experienced this set of emotions recently, when stupidly I left my beautiful pink iPod Mini on the subway. Despite the nagging feeling that I should check that iPod was in my bag, I ignored it and convinced myself that when I got home and checked the iPod would be there at the bottom of the bag. Throughout the entire journey I had been sitting in the same seat and listening to my music, when a child and its mother came and sat down on the seat beside me.

It was not the child’s fault that he could not stop jumping about, I very much blame his mother, however, I find it hard not to be annoyed at the young boy for pulling my headphones which in turn would have caused the iPod to drop out onto the floor. To be honest I should have checked whether the iPod was still in my bag before leaving the train, so for that I am very annoyed with myself but to make matters worse, that no one said anything is atrocious. I am still so very angry about the fact no one felt the need to yell out the iPod had fallen on the floor or even grabbed my arm to warn me!

I cannot actually afford to buy a brand new sparkling iPod Mini at the moment so I am trawling through all the sites I can in order to find a site that is offering cheap Apple iPod Mini’s so that I can block out all the noises on public transport again with my music. I maintain the fact that listening to music on public transport is not antisocial, as most of the time you don’t know the people who are sitting near or next to you, there is no reason why you should feel talking to them is compulsory, do whatever makes you comfortable and happy. I am certain that for many people, listening to music is a safe haven from listening to countless conversations that you have no interest in as well as saving yourself from hearing as well as seeing people sneezing and coughing.

There is no need to feel guilty about our society being one where you would rather listen to music then talk to your neighbour when on a train or bus, if you had your own way, I’m sure that you would rather drive yourself, by yourself, to work or wherever you are going to, but for some reason you cannot and so you must use public transport, this is not a punishment so why feel you cannot do what you want and act like you are alone in peace with music. Therefore finding a store, online or otherwise that offered an Apple iPod Mini Discount was very important to me. I am really looking to replace the iPod that I lost but as I cannot afford it my sister has told me lots of online stores that offer cheaper iPods.
